Jagdish temple
In the vicinity of the City Palace stands the largest shrine of Udaipur called Jagdish temple dedicated to Lord Krishna. One has to compromise climbing the steep staircases but it is well worth your effort. Built by Maharana Jagat Singh, the Indo-Aryan shrine came up back in 1651 A D and the outer walls have exquisite marble sculptures of Apsaras, flowers and elephants. After having a glimpse of the shrine, one can look out for the exotic wall hangings that flaunt Mewar school of paintings.

Fateh Sagar Lake
For those who wish to complete the tourist circuit of the city, a visit to the picturesque Fateh Sagar Lake is a convenient option. The lake in the midst of the Aravalli Hills presents a picture of tranquil beauty and has the Nehru Island Park in the centre. Close to the lake is the Pratap Memorial that bears the bronze statue of Maharana Pratap, the valiant Rajput hero.
