For tourists who are down with mountain sickness or are tired of negotiating the long, strenuous drive from Bagdogra to Gangtok, there’s a an option that promises to make your journey smooth and enjoyable. One can avail of  Sikkim Tourism Development Corporation’s (STDC) regular helicopter service from Bagdogra to Gangtok through Pawan Hans Helicopter that not only reduces your travel time and makes you reach the destination within half an hour but also provides an incredible experience that will rejuvenate your mind.

Generally, it takes around four-and-a-half hours to travel from Bagdogra to Gangtok  by road through inhospitable Himalayan terrain and the travel duration exceeds four hours if there are traffic snarls. All you have to do is to reach Burtuk Helipad Centre around 4 km from the city of Gangtok if you are interested to avail of the helicopter ride from Gangtok to Bagdogra. There is a separate outlet for Sikkim Helicopter Service at Bagdogra Airport. The helicopter service depends upon weather conditions and rain can play spoilsport to your adventurous ride since STDC does not operate helicopter service if the weather condition is inclement.
