I am an intrepid traveller. Travelling has been my passion since school days. Hailing from the steel city of Rourkela in Odisha, I always had an opportunity to plan out my holidays with my family to exotic destinations that are rich in history and heritage in India. Looking back, I have also taken up trekking in Chauragarh hills of Pachmarhi, Shatrunjaya Hills of Palitana, Vaishno Devi or the Muktinath temple in Mustang Valley in Nepal and Lalang Waterfall in rainforests of Tioman Island in Malaysia. I have penned down the Odisha destinations in Pick2Move-India Travel planner brought out by Sampan Media Limited, New Delhi. I have compiled a travelogue themed- “Journeys across India” published by Best Books, Kolkata. I generally take up travel to pen down travelogues, know the art and craft of the faraway lands and of course, I do travel reporting for leading English dailies of India.

Hotel Ramada Plaza Menam Riverside Bangkok

Luxury on the banks of Chao Phraya

For tourists visiting Bangkok and wishing to experience opulence, the best luxury destination is perhaps the five-star haunt,  Ramada Plaza Menam Riverside Bangkok. Standing on the banks of the famous Chao Phraya river that implies “King of rivers” on Charoenkrung Road,  the five star property is a delight for tourists who look forward to get wonderful glimpses of Bangkok.

The 120-year-old Charoenkrung Road enjoys the distinction of being the oldest street in Bangkok and was built by King Rama V.
One has to take the Bangna Expressway to reach the hotel from Suvarnabhumi International Airport and it takes around 40 minutes to reach your destination.  The hotel is a stone’s throw away from the Sky Train station and not far away from  Hua Lumphong MRT Subway Station. The shopping world of Bangkok is readily accessible from the hotel.
I had an opportunity to stay twice in the hotel during my visits to Bangkok. The five-star hotel prides in having grand restaurants on the riverside that serve lip-smacking food. Just check in at Coconut Terrace, the 80-seater restaurant on the poolside overlooking verdant tropical garden. The restaurant  offers Mediterranean, Italian and Thai flavours. Apart from gorging on the delights, get some panoramic views of Chao Phraya river and the water taxis that ply till late night. Visitors staying in the hotel can not only get sound views of the river from their luxury rooms but also get a bird’s eye view of the city. Moreover, the view of the river is quite fascinating at night.

A fascinating view of the river and the city

There is the 120-seater Globe Buffet restaurant that is an ideal ground for morning breakfast. For desserts, there is Dessert Dreams near the lobby serving an astounding array of Danish pastries and Swiss chocolates.
