travelmemoirsofswaati text

I am an intrepid traveller. Travelling has been my passion since school days. Hailing from the steel city of Rourkela in Odisha, I always had an opportunity to plan out my holidays with my family to exotic destinations that are rich in history and heritage in India. Looking back, I have also taken up trekking in Chauragarh hills of Pachmarhi, Shatrunjaya Hills of Palitana, Vaishno Devi or the Muktinath temple in Mustang Valley in Nepal and Lalang Waterfall in rainforests of Tioman Island in Malaysia. I have penned down the Odisha destinations in Pick2Move-India Travel planner brought out by Sampan Media Limited, New Delhi. I have compiled a travelogue themed- “Journeys across India” published by Best Books, Kolkata. I generally take up travel to pen down travelogues, know the art and craft of the faraway lands and of course, I do travel reporting for leading English dailies of India.

31/32 Lounge Bar

Highest roof top lounge bar in Kolkata

Eastern India’s highest roof top lounge bar has come up at The Westin Kolkata Rajarhat sometime in June, this year. Well-known as 31/32 Lounge Bar, it spreads over 10,000 sq.ft area and has a seating capacity of 150. The lounge bar is a blend of indoor and outdoor area with the 31st floor being indoor area with glitzy décor while the 32nd floor has both indoor and outdoor space also called helipad lounge.

The lounge bar serves a combination of Continental and Asian menu with its signature cocktails. There is also a Red Cocoon Area for VIPs and small groups of guests for those who prefer privacy. Foodies can get panoramic glimpses of the city relishing the fare.

. The outlet rustles up 10 items in the vegetarian section, 20 dishes in the non-vegetarian section and four Continental desserts. The recipes served at the outlet go down well with alcoholic drinks. I was offered a number of delish delights and started off with Truffle Humus Choux- a blend of Continental, Arabic and French starter. There was Spiced Edemame- a fusion of Japanese and Spanish starter and it was quite bland.

I moved on to have Bombay Maska that was a delight to savour.

The dish- Wild Mushroom Risotto is an Italian platter made of truffle essence, butter mushroom, cheese and garnished with micro greens.

The real delight was Hazlenut Milk Crumbled Tart garnished with chocolate powder.
