Culinary extravaganza at Kolkata’s luxury haunt
For foodies and luxury travellers waiting to savour an appealing menu that is rich in taste and is hot, exotic and eclectic in the city of Kolkata, here’s a luxury, fine-dining restaurant that is incidentally the only one-of-a-kind not only in the city but also in the eastern region of India. The preferred address is JW Kitchen @JW Marriott Kolkata on JBS Haldane Avenue that is opened all round-the-clock and has opened its doors sometime November, last year.

The interiors of the restaurant are decked up with long columns of bells made of fibre and coated with zinc. For food connoisseurs, there is Continental, Asian and Indian cuisine.
The restaurant serves a bewildering variety of delicately-spiced dishes and fragrantly spiced curries. Take your pick with Father Michel’s Burata – an Italian signature dish in the appetizer and salad section that comes for Rs 425 exclusive of taxes. For non-vegetarians, begin the main course with black pepper crusted Salmon pegged at Rs 850. For more substantial meal, dig into Murg Bhatti or Chingri (prawn) curry, an eternal favourite of Bengal.

Desserts on offer
There are four live stations including chaat, waffle, Italian and an Asian counter that makes us stand out from other fine-dining restaurants in Kolkata. There is Do-It-Yourself (DIY) option in the salad counter and at least 12 kinds of salads are on display.
I began with the Aloo ka tikka chaat and moved on to Kasundi Paneer Tikka, Kadhai Parwal and Dum Aloo that are hot dishes. I proceeded to the dessert section and I was taken aback by the amazing variety of 25 kinds of desserts inclusive of Continental and Indian delights. I tried a few of them like hazelnut Praline, brownie, Chocolate truffle, baked yogurt, mud cake, baked chocolate tart, chocolate salted caramel et al that were all heavenly. The items in the dessert section keep on changing every day.
For those interested to indulge their taste buds can shell out Rs 1,250 and relish the culinary extravaganza offered at the buffet lunch of the restaurant. The restaurant is a must-visit for discerning food lovers and those who are well-travelled during festive times.
